Dr Somaratna graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
She has worked in Sydney since 2008, including as a senior medical officer at St George, Sutherland, Ryde, Blacktown, Gosford and Wyong hospitals, and as a GP since 2010.
